ON THE HORIZON

Manage First Courses: CtHEF is proud to announce its pilot plan to offer Manage First seminars, beginning in January, 2009. NRAEF Manage First courses are recognized industry-wide as high-quality training for new hospitality managers, as well as refresher and update courses for seasoned professionals. Of course, Manage First courses and CtHEF's commitment to quality seminar presentation meet the standards set for our ServSafe courses.

The initial offering will include these courses, each conducted as a one-day, 8-hour seminar: Controlling Foodservice Costs, Hospitality and Restaurant Management, and Human Resources Management and Supervision. ServSafe is the fourth Core Credential Topic. After completing the core, students that complete 4 more courses from 8 offered, will be granted a Manage First Certificate of Completion. Details will be included in the next edition of CT Hospitality E-News.

ProStart High School Competition: Due to the early scheduling of CT hospitality EXPO, we are excited to hint that our annual high school culinary and management competition will be held in January, 2009, at the Connecticut Culinary Institute. Our Educational Partner, CCI, plans to host an exciting event for the students, their parents, and the industry. The winning high school team will represent Connecticut at NPSI, the National ProStart Invitational, to be held in San Diego in April, 2009. The New Britain High School Hurricanes traveled to NPSI in 2007 and 2008. NPSI officials were so impressed with the support from the CT hospitality industry, that this photo of the New Britain Culinary Team appears on the ProStart homepage! ProStart on the web » » »
