The CRA Golf Classic & CHEF Farm Dinner was an amazing success, both as a networking event and as an opportunity to support the work of the Connecticut Hospitality Educational Foundation. Through sponsorships, raffle and silent auction, the foundation raised $11,600 to support the CT ProStart Program, scholarships and workforce development initiatives.
Dinner guests enjoyed a four-course dinner prepared by our chefs and assisted by 14 ProStart students from 7 different high schools across the state. Students from Crosby High School in Waterbury, Hall High School in West Hartford, New Haven Adult Education, Simsbury High School, Stonington High School, Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven and Windsor High School spent their day prepping and plating for nearly 300 attendees. This year the students worked with Chef David Mitchell (The Brushmill by the Waterfall), Chef Johan Jensen (Whitecrest Eatery) Chef Macarena Ludena (Coracora) and Chef Damon Sawyer (29 Markle Ct.).This industry connection event allows for students in the ProStart program to gain real life industry experience. It also showcases the talent coming out of the program to our member restaurants and chefs.
ProStart is a two-year career-building program for high school students that prepares them to work in the hospitality industry.
