Frequently Asked Questions
What Class Do I Need to Take?
If you are a manager or seeking to have the right certification for the Public Health Department, you need ServSafe Manager. This exam will give you the Certified Food Protection Manager certification (formerly known as the QFO). You do not need to take the course, however we highly recommend it. Our instructors have great success in helping our students pass the exam, with over 90% of students passing on their first attempt. The national average is 72%. We only recommend self study options for individuals who are renewing their license and have significant experience in food safety management.
- The ServSafe Manager Certification verifies that the designated person-in-charge has sufficient food safety knowledge to protect the public from foodborne illness.
- The ServSafe Food Handler Certificate verifies basic food safety knowledge and is for individuals in food handler employee-level positions.
