DIRECTV Will Continue to Stream Sunday Ticket to Restaurants & Bars

Association Updates,

DIRECTV and EverPass just announced a multiyear deal that will allow DIRECTV for Business to continue streaming Sunday Ticket to restaurant, bars, and other businesses.

Why is this important?

This is great news for the thousands of hospitality businesses across the state that rely on DIRECTV to stream games that bring in guests. Without this deal, businesses were facing the choice of skipping NFL Sunday Ticket games or investing as much as $40k in new equipment, as well as additional subscriptions needed to stream other games. The Connecticut Restaurant & Hospitality Association joined the National Restaurant Association and restaurant associations across the country in urging the parties to reach a solution that protected hospitality businesses. When our industry speaks with one voice, it makes a difference.

What does the deal do?

DIRECTV for Business retains distribution rights for Sunday Ticket and becomes EverPass's preferred national sales and marketing partner for the package. DIRECTV for Business customers will also gain access to other premium sports content on the EverPass platform. Separately, DIRECTV continues to offer NFL RedZone, ESPN+, MLB Extra Innings, NBA League Pass, NHL Center Ice, and MLS Season Pass.

How did we get here?

When this threat emerged, the National Restaurant Association and State Restaurant Associations across the country — including Connecticut — engaged, sounding the alarm to our federal representatives. This included convening top staffers on the House/Senate Judiciary committees for a bipartisan briefing with the National Restaurant Association team and restaurant operators from around the country to explain what was at stake. This engagement led to this congressional hearing.
