Description of Organization:
The Connecticut Hospitality Educational Foundation (CHEF) is the philanthropic 501c3 arm of the Connecticut Restaurant Association (CRA). Its mission is to promote the health and prosperity of Connecticut’s hospitality industry while working to attract, develop and retain a career-oriented professional workforce for the restaurant industry through education, workforce development opportunities and scholarships. The CRA is a full service, not-for-profit trade association dedicated to supporting every type and size of restaurant. The industry plays an integral role in Connecticut’s economy, employing more than 130,000 foodservice workers and generating nearly $9 billion in annual sales. CHEF, along with the CRA, works to advance and educate the growing hospitality industry.
Essential Functions:
The Education & Event Assistant Intern for the Connecticut Hospitality Educational Foundation will assist in planning and promoting a variety of online and in-person educational opportunities and events for high school students, high school educators and adults entering the workforce in the hospitality field. The EEA intern will also be engaged in activities and events sponsored by the Connecticut Restaurant Association, including the annual awards gala, golf tournament, legislative round tables and CRA Day at the Capitol.

- Assist in planning a variety of in-person and online events for high school culinary students and educators;
- Assist in planning monthly online engagement activities for students and educators;
- Engage with various statewide workforce Advisory Boards for hospitality and culinary;
- Assist with fundraising online silent auction;
- Work with community/business partnerships to establish a network of business partners, guest speakers, field trip opportunities and mentors;
- Update CHEF social media to promote events and programming;
- Assist with other events sponsored by CHEF and the CRA as assigned by the Director.
Desired Skills:
- Event planning and organizing;
- Social Media knowledge;
- Graphic design and/or website maintenance;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to work as a team or independently as needed;
- Ability to lift 25lbs for events as needed;
- Adaptability with learning database management and other internal association programs as needed;
- Understanding and interest to work for public, non-for-profit organizations;
- Drive for organizational growth and maintaining a strong work culture;
- Transportation ability to travel for CHEF/CRA Events as needed.
