Wilbur Cross Takes First, Enfield Second and Simsbury Third in Culinary
Wilbur Cross First, Enfield Second in Management
The Connecticut Hospitality Educational Foundation (CHEF) and the Connecticut Restaurant Association (CRA) hosted the 18th annual CT ProStart Invitational on February 28, 2024 at Dunkin' Park in Hartford. Culinary students in the ProStart Program from five different high schools competed in competitions showcasing their cooking and restaurant management skills.
Wilbur Cross High School, located in New Haven, came out on top in the Culinary Competition, which judged the the students in work skills, taste, menu, safety, sanitation & presentation. They also placed first in the Management Competition, where they presented their own restaurant concept, menu development, restaurant design, staff organization and marketing techniques to a panel of industry professionals. Wilbur Cross now goes on to compete at the National ProStart Invitational April 26 to 28 in Baltimore, MD where they will work to defend their national championship title. Wilbur Cross has placed first at the national Management competition in 2023 as well as 2018.
Enfield High School placed second in both culinary and restaurant management. Simsbury High School placed third in culinary.
