On Sunday, October 26, 2025, the team at Gioia Café & Bar in New Haven hosted a truly unforgettable Chefs for CHEF Charity Dinner to benefit the Connecticut Hospitality Educational Foundation (CHEF). The sold-out event brought together chefs, restaurateurs, and hospitality supporters from across the state for a night of exceptional food and even better purpose: supporting CHEF’s mission to grow and strengthen Connecticut’s hospitality workforce. The chefs also worked along side culinary and restaurant management students that are a part of the Connecticut ProStart Program at Wilbur Cross High School, giving them real world experience in the kitchen.

✨ A Celebration of Culinary Talent

Guests gathered at Gioia’s beautiful Wooster Street space for an evening that showcased the creativity and generosity of Connecticut’s culinary community. The night began with a lively cocktail reception featuring passed bites from Chef Avi Szapiro and welcome cocktail from his partner Tim Cabral, setting a welcoming tone for the five-course tasting menu that followed.

Each course was crafted by one of Connecticut’s top chefs, highlighting their signature styles and seasonal inspiration:

  • First Course: Fall Street Chaat, Chef Prasad Chirnomula (Chef Prasad)

  • Second Course: Grilled Trumpet Mushroom, Chef Avi Szapiro (Gioia Café & Bar)

  • Third Course: Foie Gras Three Ways, Chef Michelle Greenfield (Allium Eatery)

  • Main Course: Lamb Chop, Chef Tyler Anderson (Millwright’s Restaurant)

  • Dessert: Parsnip Carrot Cake, Chef Chelsea Tripp (Kouign Bakery)

From the first bite to the last, guests enjoyed an experience that was both sophisticated and deeply personal.

Thank you to Chef Avi, Tim and the entire team for giving their time and supporting CHEF.
